The new Year 5 and 6 Forest School groups joined me today for a pirate themed session. A game of rope tangle sorted the children in to groups before they set about searching for their pirate castaways. Once located, the children were encouraged to build a story and setting around their character. Plans began modestly, but as healthy competition built among the teams, designs and tales became ever more elaborate!
The aim of Forest School at Fagley Primary is to build on the children’s innate motivation and positive attitude to learning; to engage with them with the outdoors and to foster a love, respect, understanding and responsibility for our environment. The children will be offered opportunities, through practical activities, to take beneficial risks whilst building on their decision making, creative thinking and problem solving skills.
