Portfolio preparation

I have been busy preparing my Forest School portfolio over the last few weeks.
Unit one is nearly completed. This includes a report on the sustainable use of woodlands over the centuries. I chose to concentrate in particular on forests in the Leeds area.
My final task to complete unit one is to prepare activities to teach the use of tools and knots.

I have also been busy looking at possible sites for Forest School activities. Fagley Youth and Community Centre has been very supportive and are keen to encourage the children to use their site. I have carried out an Ecological Impact Survey at the site and found several points of interest. The community centre are taking a number of steps to improve the site and have welcomed our input.
The main issue with using the community centre site is the lack of mature trees (a problem our school site shares with them), so I will also be investigating the possibility of using the local woodlands.
